Online Video Poker

You fancy something more responsive than slot gaming but feel the casino tables are a little too slow and refined for your gaming style – what do you do? Well, unless you’ve got the cash to hit Las Vegas…….you load-up the full power of Video Poker! It’s a good bet that you’ll wonder why an earth you never tried it before!

There’s no doubt that Video Poker is the flashiest game in the casino – it’s stolen the click and play speed of slot machines and ripped the heart out of classic poker! The result is the casino’s slickest and most rewarding gaming option and a volatile choice with serious jackpot power.

If you’re a gamer whose scared to play Video Poker – don’t be – it’s easy! In fact, novice gamers can instantly get gaming, thanks to cool auto-skill features available with many Video Poker games.

1. Select a wager value
2. Click play to receive your hand
3. Analyse you hand to hold/discard (or play with auto-skill)
4. Click to re-draw
5. The machine analyses your hand and pays-out accordingly

See – I told you it was easy. Naturally, because Video Poker fires out real poker cards from classic packs, the game’s only similarities to slot gaming is the colourful screens, round speed, chunky buttons and the opportunity to hold and discard cards (mimicking the hold function on fruit machines). Essentially, Video Poker is table gaming on steroids!

One of the real attractions of Video Poker is the chance to use strategy and skill to boost your chances of winning combos. Video Poker strategies enable you to analyse you hand with a pro edge, and keep the cards that maximise your potential.

Due to the numerous Video Poker genres (for example, Deuces Wild and Aces Faces), it’s vital to hit the VP machines with the right set of rules. Search the web for some free systems and keep the instructions handy next time you play.

The good news is there’s no pressure when you game at home – so you can learn Video Poker at your own speed. Free-play casinos and sign-up bonuses are a great option to trial the power of Video Poker.

The chances are you’re eager to know about the payout power of Video Poker? The good news is Video Poker machines don’t just talk the talk – they can also walk the walk when it comes to payouts. Progressive jackpot machines can deliver massive 4000.00 coin payouts for the Royal Flush, which can mean life changing returns for lucky, high stake gamers. Fortunately, if you don’t get seriously lucky, Video Poker machines start rewarding gamers with payouts of 1-5 coins for Jacks or Better combos (the more coins selected, the higher the payout potential). Many Video Poker games contain multi-hand options, giving serious gamers the opportunity to play with 100 or more cards per round!

Whether you’re looking for a new gaming challenge, want to get serious with your game-play or simply want to experience the biggest casino rush in existence – Video Poker is the ultimate choice.

The All Japan Poker Championship

You don’t see too many Japanese poker players on the international poker circuit, which is not surprising since there are no casinos in the country and gambling is completely banned.

However, with the advent and popularity of online poker, many Japanese have become keen players.

The All Japan Poker Championship will take place in May 2008, with the Main Event on May 18th. The Japanese event is organised by Global Mix, who aim to promote poker in Japan and give players a platform to develop their skills, with the hope that the best will go on to participate in other international poker tournaments.

To get round the strict gambling laws, there will be no entry fee, and the top prize will be a seat at the WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas – worth $10,000 – plus flights and accommodation. No real money will change hands between players, only poker chips.

The Championship will also feature a Ladies Tournament and a Seniors Tournament, to encourage all kinds of players to take part.

This is the second year that the All Japan Championship has run. In last year’s tournament, more than 2000 players took part, and money was raised for a Japanese welfare charity. The champion was Kunihiro Sakamoto, who went on to play in the World Series of Poker 2007 Main Event.

This fledgling event joins other new poker tournaments such as the India Poker Tour, the Asian Poker Classic and the Latin American Poker Tour as poker spreads across the globe. Hopefully we will see the World Poker Tour and World Series of Poker expanding beyond Europe and the United States to encompass the many countries where poker is played and loved by thousands.

Perhaps, like the World Series of baseball, which was conceived when baseball was an all-American sport, the WSOP will adapt to involve and actively encourage poker in other countries. After all, this can only be good for the game, especially after stringent online gambling laws in the United States have greatly restricted the freedom of American poker players.

There is already a Japan Poker Players’ Association, headed by Hiroshi Shimamura, who aims to bring poker to Japan, and Japanese players to the international poker world. Shimamura took part in last year’s European Poker Tour and came 6th in the 2005 WSOP Omaha Hi/Lo event. Fellow Japanese player Masaaki Kagawa also did well this year, winning third place and $200,000 at the Aussie Millions Tournament.
